Project Name, Contract Number: Contract C1, State Project No. 43-122
Project Area: I-95 / Frontage Road to Lake Saltonstall
Project Scope: Contract C1 is located in New Haven and East Haven, and consisted of the reconstruction of approximately 2,500 meters (1.25 miles) of I-95 from the western project limit at the New Haven/East Haven town line on Frontage Road to the eastern project limit at the Lake Saltonstall Bridge in East Haven.
The East Haven Frontage Road system was realigned to accommodate the expansion of I-95 to 3 lanes. The I-95 bridge over Route 1/AMTRAK was replaced. Superstructure replacement and widening took place on the Laurel Street Bridge and I-95 over North High Street. The Tuttle Brook culvert was replaced. The Farm River culvert was extended. North High Street was widened to accommodate a turning lane onto the I-95 Northbound onramp. The Oakley Street/Main Street intersection was realigned and a cul-de-sac established at Minott Street. Full shoulders, a new median barrier, drainage, signing, and lighting were provided throughout the project.
