Contract D encompasses approximately 2.1 miles (3,350 meters) of I-95 in the Town of Branford. In both directions, full shoulders and a new median barrier will be constructed and new drainage, signing, and lighting will be installed.

Details of the contract are as follows:

  1. Widening I-95: I-95 will be reconstructed and widened between the east shore of the Lake Saltonstall Bridge and Exit 54 (Cedar Street) in Branford.

  2. Three lanes to Exit 54: A third travel lane will be added in each direction.

  3. Todds Hill Road Bridge: The Todds Hill Road bridge over I-95 will be replaced.

  4. Cherry Hill Road Bridge: The Cherry Hill Road bridge over I-95 will be rehabilitated.

  5. I-95 over the Branford Connector: I-95 over the Exit 53 Southbound on-ramp (Branford Connector) will be widened.

  6. New Noise Barriers: Noise barrier walls will be constructed along I-95 at Exit 54 and Todds Hill and Cherry Hill Roads.

  7. New Commuter Parking Lot: The Exit 54 (Cedar Street) commuter parking lot was relocated to Exit 55 (Route 1), due to the widening of Cedar Street to accommodate turning lanes.

  8. Branford Service Areas: Both service areas on I-95 in Branford will be resurfaced and the ramps reconfigured.

  9. Hosley Avenue: The Hosley Avenue Culvert will be replaced.
