ABOUT THE CORRIDOR
-- Corridor History--

Building the Connecticut Turnpike: The original 129-mile Connecticut Turnpike between Greenwich and Killingly was built between 1955 and 1958. Originally designed to relieve congestion on US Route 1, the turnpike quickly became a major thruway between New York and Rhode Island. Read a history of the highway from 1940 to the present.

Tribute to Pearl Harbor: In 1995 the New Haven bridge - known locally as the "Q" (Quinnipiac River) Bridge - was dedicated as the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge. Read a history of the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on the United States' Pearl Harbor.
