Long Wharf Environmental Assessment (EA): An Environmental Assessment (EA) is underway to study alternatives for operational and safety improvements to I-95 in the Long Wharf area. The one-mile Long Wharf area, an integral link to the I-95 NHHC Corridor Improvement Program, is located between Howard Avenue and Canal Dock Road adjacent to the New Haven waterfront.

The improvements under study include widening I-95, connecting to the adjoining segment of the I-95 Improvement Program, and maintaining access to Sargent Drive and Long Wharf Drive.

At this time, preliminary engineering alternatives are being developed to meet project objectives. The Environmental Assessment will describe each alternative, identify the environmental impacts of each, and provide applicable mitigation measures to ameliorate their impact. This analysis will provide an understanding of the magnitude of impacts associated with each alternative and the relative impacts among the alternatives.

This Long Wharf EA will involve a full public review during the draft EA phase. All applicable public comments received will be addressed and included in the final LW EA document.
